What does retirement mean to you? To some people, it means finally harvesting the fruits of your last 30 years of labor. For others, it simply means withdrawing from the work force into the comfort of a private life. For a few, it could even mean moving to another country to start fresh all over again. You've created many experiences along the way, made many mistakes, and formulated life changing decisions such as relocation, career changes, and others. If you were fortunate enough, you even got married and had a few kids, and perhaps became a proud owner of some grandchildren. However, it is easy to become a victim of depression if you do not keep an active lifestyle EVEN after going into retirement. In addition to exercising, giving to charity, and taking care of your grandchildren. There are many people who will experience a retirement that is lonely and secluded, and this is very damaging to your mental health. Elderly people who did not prepare for life in retirement will find themselves alone, bored, unchallenged, and living a life of regret. 1. Spend time with your family and loved ones. Social isolation is a real problem in today's day and age. Be sure to spend time with those you care about. When you have someone you care about in your life, you tend to be happier. There's no greater joy in retirement than to give your full undivided attention to the people who are close to you. 2. Exercise. Physically, your body may be worn out, but that doesn't mean that you should stop getting up and about. Exercise is a great way to increase serotonin production at any age and this simple act can make the difference between feeling like you're in your 20s again or being old and bony. 3. Start a business. What's the point of accumulating all the wealth you've managed to save for the past 65 years of your life if you aren't going to use it to add value to society? Attend a business class. Read business books. Start a service that will survive long after you pass from the world. 4. Give back to the world. Life is more meaningful when you know you can make it a little greener. Now it's the time to do something you weren't able to do before. Donate to charity, help change a child's life, or simply pass on a bountiful inheritance to the next generation. 5. Learn to Trade Forex. There's nothing more exciting than trading currency in my humble opinion. You're in control of assets that can be swayed by political forces, media, and presidential elections. Technical analysis is fun once you begin making some predictions of your own. Last but not least, what's a better way to connect with the rest of the world than to own currency other than your own? Here in my blogs I talk a lot about the math of becoming rich, saving, investing, but that's the point of having all that money if you're not going to be in great mental and physical health to enjoy it? For those of you who aren't quite at the retirement age yet, you're never too young to start planning for your future. Good luck!
